The DelReys were formed "again" in Florida after a 30 year sabbatical. The old Surf Music Instrumental Rock sound that was such a part of my life as I was growing up returned full force when I began playing the old guitars and amps that I was starting to collect. First I started playing what I could remember of the old tunes...Then I started hitting the used record stores and thrift shops looking for all the old Ventures LP's that I had long lost track of. I was rewarded for my efforts and soon obtained a complete collection of some of the best instrumental guitar music this world has to offer.
The first person I could interest in this new band venture was my guitar playing/surfer son Rocky. Next we found a cookin surfin bass player who fell in love with the music and the idea of playing in the band. To complete the picture I approached a good friend who was an excellent Jazz and R&B drummer.. I let him hear the stuff and told him my idea. Not only did he dig the concept, he went back and studied the total sound and committed himself to the feel, the tuning, and the licks that made that whole Surf Music Instrumental Rock scene such a happening. Man I tell you this old stuff is about the funnest music I've ever played. I am grateful to Steve, Tony and Rocky for being faithful to the sound and for all the hours they spent listening and getten it right.
During the brief 18 months the DelReys were together we managed to record one live concert of 10 songs which I have produced into a CD-R. This CD is available via this Web site for $15.00 Plus $2.00 Postage (each). If you like the old stuff the way it was played then (and now) then I think you will enjoy this CD.
